It's the end of the *cough pathetic cough* semester break! 4 more months till the end of my first year. Approximately 120 days, more or less? It feels as though I just started my degree, padahal dah habis my first semester. How do I feel? Any regrets so far? For taking up this course, for joining this intake, for enrolling into this university? Probably not, but we'll just have to see how my results turn out to actually answer that question. If things don't turn out the way I want them to, then I guess it'll happen for a reason. There will be other alternatives, take a gap year maybe?
Allow me to rescue you from your crowd of admirers

If you've got the time, make sure you wash your car regularly. Don't let it collect dust or you'll end up with a message like this:

You love me huh? You don't even know me.

Want to know why you should always think before you say something?

I was driving with my dad & my siblings when I saw this car parked at a curb, in such a way that I couldn't see the cars coming from the opposite direction, so I cursed that driver. The situation got awkward when Big Boss said that he parks like that all the time. What do you in a situation like that? Smile like an idiot and keep quiet!

You are the reason women fall in love

Liverpool, UWE, Exeter & Cardiff down. Sheffield, where art thou?

I'm currently on my semester break right now! *woohooo* Since it's just for a week and my one and only break for the year, let's enjoy it to the max now shall we? Huh? What assignment, test & homework? 0:)
You look familiar. Did you graduate from The University of Handsome Men?

When your lecturer leaves you to do a tutorial question and you have no idea what to write, have no fear. I can help you with that.

Falling for you would be a very short trip

Does anyone know people who do really good acoustic covers? I know Kina Grannis and David Choi. Please do suggest anyone you know. Thanks! Sorry hitmanbreakeroftheye, but as much as you crack me up, I can't listen to you in the car. Takut accident nanti due to excessive laughter!

I was doing my research on the Vienna Convention of SOGA for my contract assignment and look what I found. Revolting, isn't it?

And after reading a friend's blog, I came across 'Rapeman', a manga series. It's about a guy who is a high school teacher by day, superhero by night! Sounds like a martyr right? But the only heroic thing he does is rape girls! Girls who cheat on their boyfriends, basically unfaithful females. That's quite horrendous, kan? His motto: Righting wrongs through penetration. HAHAHAHAHA
What is happening to the wooooorld?

A couple of things to look forward to :

  1. Actorlympics - Laugh Fest
The last time I went for Actorlympics was a few years ago, and enjoyed every single moment of it! The next thing I knew, The Actors Studio was closed. On the way to pick up Adam from school, I saw the banner and I googled it as soon as I got home. When I saw the line-up for Actorlympics, I made up my mind to go. And if no one wants to go with me, I don't care!

  2. Thomas Cup
It'd be really awesome if I could go for the finals! The previous one was in 2006, and I remember collecting the newspaper articles with Afiqah and rushing back from school just to watch the matches. After the Olympics, I've gotta admit that I haven't been watching the matches. Since it's going to be held in KL this year, why not seize the opportunity and watch it in person? Who knows when it'll be held in our own backyard again!

  3. Semester Break
That's next week, and I wouldn't exactly call it a semester 'break' because it's more like a study leave. We've got two tests to study for AND an assignment to hand in the week after? You call that a semester BREAK? Dah la it's only a week, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

  4. 1st Kem Putra Sentosa Reunion
If all goes well, we'll be seeing each other wiras & wirawatis! If it were up to me, I'd go there in a split second but it'll be from Sunday until Tuesday so I'll be missing two days of classes. And I'm planning to go on Friday, so there goes another day of class. But the thought of meeting up with the others, eating Mee Kolok *drools* and exploring Kuching (Someone take me on a tour please?) is just so tempting. The weird thing is, it'll be held for the previous and subsequent batches as well, and it's going to be held at the camp itself. So I've been wondering where we'll be sleeping. Dah la there's a current batch over there, right? I guess I'll have to check with Cikgu Dayang on that.

  5. Relay for Life
Went for it for the first time last year, enjoyed myself especially during the Luminaria. Let's stay the whole night this time?
I was looking at a light bulb today and it made me think of you and how you light up my world

Thanks to Najwa who not only ironed my dress, but also helped me get ready (while recording videos of her singing to BB Mak's 'Back Here', which will probably end up being uploaded on Youtube by an 'anonymous' user soon). When Stephen arrived, he looked at my dress and regretted not wearing a purple tie. So what did we do? Went through all the jam to get his purple tie. The crazy things you do for a piece of clothing, like going to the opposite direction instead of the venue of the ball which is approximately 750m away from my house.

It was kind of a surprise to me that we actually reached at One World on time because there was a massive jam, AND it was raining, but we did, and that's all that matters. The performances were great, but when we were asked to sing-a-long to Cyrus's 'The Climb', I just couldn't do it!

Since I didn't really eat the whole day, apart from a pack of biscuits while I was getting my hair done, I was looking forward to the 9-course dinner. Chuka Lidako, Fried Rice, Shark's Fin Soup, ohhhh *drools*. At one point, we were so busy walking around taking photos, we skipped a few courses of our dinner!

In order to surprise someone for his birthday:

Call his friends and plan the whole thing with them. Bring your two wingwomen along. On the night of the party, these people will be the ones who will arrive at the surprise first.

When you are about to reach the place, make your friends and his friends hide in a super small stuffy room while waiting for the two of you to arrive, where they will eventually sweat due to the space of the room. Some will resort to playing with the lift while waiting.

When you arrive at the restaurant which was 'coincidently' empty for the night, excuse yourself to the toilet. Don't forget to curse silently when you see your friends' bags which were left around the restaurants.

Go to the secret hiding room, which is just actually beside the restaurant

Light up the candles

Open the door to the restaurant and surprise him!

Don't forget to put magic relighting candles on his cake, which will take him minutes to blow.

At the end of every birthday song, ask the birthday boy to take the candle out with his teeth. While he does this, GENTLY push his face into the cake. Don't murder him on his birthday *cough cough*

Wouldn't we look cute on a wedding cake together?

Being kidnapped + early dinner + fake 911 calls : Did You Hear About The Morgans?
You must be a hell of a thief because you stole my heart from across the room
8:02 PM
So I started the year with a whole lot of weddings, from Kak Meen's, to Abang Zahril's, to Feir's brother's wedding. Ushered for two of those weddings, and trust me, it's not as easy as it looks. Making sure those guests seat at their actual tables, layaning their kerenahs, and trying to walk gracefully in heels while rushing to usher them to their seats, now that's a challenge! But the food, now THAT'S a different story (;

All these photos are from FB's (Feir's Brother HAHA) wedding:

Partners in Crime

Nice, ain't it?

And on the 12th was Arisha's surprise farewell dinner. I spent the afternoon with her so it was pretty difficult not to spill the beans, especially when we started talking about her leaving and all. After sending her home in the evening, went back, showered, picked Adam up, and left the house for Kokopelli. I was going in circles and almost gave up when I realized I was at Jaya 33, not JayaOne.

When someone books a table for 25 people, you cannot expect them to be quiet! We were told repeatedly to keep it down, but you have no idea how loud high school reunions can be. Stories were exchanged, company was great. What more could you ask for?

Did the sun come out or did you just smile at me?

Goodbye tv show marathons, waking up late, and being so bored you end up doing completely nothing. Hello shuttle bus, a variety of places to eat, and new friends.

This is going to be a great year.

Right?

Were you in Boy Scouts? Because you sure have tied my heart in a knot

Cars and me? Not exactly yin and yang. Need proof?

  1. Reversing gone wrong: When you're practicing for your driving test, make sure you do the parallel side parking as much as you inhale (All the time!). This is to avoid future incidents at night when you accidentally reverse your car into the longkang behind you. Should you blame the blind spot or the authorities for not covering the longkang? Neither. You should blame yourself for not parking at the designated parking spot in the first place!
  2. It's New Year's Eve. You're with your friends, you've got a nice spot to watch the fireworks. Yet you still want to get a 'better' view (This is just an excuse for being lazy to stand), and you all decide to watch it on your friend's car roof. Some of them are skeptical, so you volunteer to be the first one to go. When you sit down, the roof just didn't feel right (It feels as though there's a gap between the interior and exterior of the car) so you jump down. To your horror, there are TWO dents on the roof! Now just imagine if all FOUR of us sat on it.
  3. You know you've got a pretty bad reputation as a driver when your grandparents ask you if you were the cause of the dent at the back of your car, when it was your sister who did it in the first place!
Now it's pretty obvious what my resolution is, isn't it?

Were you arrested earlier? It's gotta be illegal to look that good

How do you know what to actually major in university? Do you learn what you're passionate about, what your parents tell you to, or whatever that'll generate the most income in the future? In less than a week's time, I'll be starting my degree, which explains the 'mind-boggling' question. New environment, new friends, new food (Now isn't that just the best part of a uni?) and definitely new lecturers.

It'll just be like the first day of school. Where no one knows you, and vice versa. The last time I felt like this was when I transferred from Sri Petaling to TTDI(1), which was eons ago. Hopefully, a friend has signed up for the course as well and it won't be so awkward.

What if I don't like the course halfway? It's not like I have a solid back-up plan. If I screw up, even a miniscule, the whole point of doing SAM as an express intake AND doing an express intake for my first year will be pointless. Down the toilet. Flushed to the sea. Just like Nemo.

Is there an airport nearby or is that just my heart taking off?
Sunday, December 27, 2009, 8:01 PM
Just a year ago:

I woke up early, just excited at the fact of embarking on a new 'adventure'. Updated my blog for the last time, said my goodbyes to civilization, and left the house. Had breakfast at Santai and after that it was a non-stop drive to Bukit Jalil .

When I arrived, the first place I went to was the toilet (too much teh ais). Searched for the toilet, but I was at the wrong entrance! I could SEE the toilet from where I was standing, but there was a gate. Trust me, if climbing over the gate was considered as ladylike and appropriate, I would have done that.

After emptying my bladder system (yes, I finally found the toilet), saw Pah & Sya at a tent, where we were supposed to register. After introducing them to each other, I was pretty sure we were going to be sticking with each other for the whole three months!

Finally, it was time to say goodbye. My family (make that, my extended family. Yes, grandparents, aunties, uncles, AND 7 other cousins) were lining up at outside the bus. I got a seat beside the window and waved to them as the driver started the engine. Before we left, ex-trainees, who were promoting NS were selling hot-dogs, but sadly, no one bought it.

Now THIS is when the 'REAL' adventure begins. Or not.

On the bus, I saw a guy holding a bag, with MCKK written on it. The only person I could think of who went to MCKK at that time was Uncle Nasir, Naj's dad. I reminded myself to tell Naj this as soon as I could. Not that it was a major discovery, but how often can you say that you met your friend's dad's junior?! IN A BUS PULAK TUU.

Predictably enough, the bus ride was creepily silent and awkward. One trainer actually gave us RM10 each to spend at the airport, which we all happily accepted. We reached KLIA after 45 minutes or so. I saw other trainees, who were heading towards Sabah & Sarawak assembling at various locations around KLIA (Imran, I'm pretty sure you were one of them. Too bad we didn't know each other back then), but didn't see anyone familiar.

Sya had a whole kampung waiting for her at KLIA, so she went with them while I hung out with Pah as we were all given 30 minutes (which ended up as a few hours) to 'enjoy' ourselves. Since we both wanted our last 'luxurious' meal, we headed to Eden, for dumplings! Since we arrived around 2 (if I'm not mistaken) and there was no dim sum after 12, we had to settle for Seafood fried rice, which was good, considering it was overpriced!

We checked in, and managed to get a crossword puzzle book (You never know when you might need it) , just in case. We were about to board the plane at 6.05pm (Yes, we were at the airport from 2!) when one girl approached the trainer. Apparently, she lost her IC! Nasib baik she could settle it, and we then boarded the plane.

As soon as the plane left the ground, I opened my bag to read the various messages from my friends (Thanks for the black book guys, and the fan Arisha!). I may have looked pretty creepy, laughing and crying alone. The chicken meatball with egg noodles they served was really good. Was about to sleep when the 2-hour plane ride came to an end.

Looked outside the window, and was shocked to see houses around the airport (Mind you, this is coming from a person whose last plane ride was 9 years ago, and KLIA isn't a city airport either!). Went to the immigration counter and was given a slip valid for 3 months to declare that I wasn't some illegal person (We were constantly reminded to guard the slip with our lives, because without it, you ain't going on that plane back to KL!)

After collecting our bags, we hopped on to another bus and were told that it was going to be another 2 hours till we reached Sematan, where our camp is located. During the bus ride, most of us fell asleep, but I was busy talking to Marcus, Sya & Pah. Since it was around 8 when we arrived at Kuching, the bus ride seemed endless because it was dark and we had no idea where we were going.

Can you see Sematan on the map? It's near Kuching.

When we finally did, everyone was kind of nervous because we were the last group of people to arrive! There was an earlier group of KL trainees and their flight was in the afternoon. The trainees from Sarawak would have definitely arrived before noon. The bus stopped directly in front of the hall and all eyes were on us when we entered the hall. We were told to leave our bags at a corner and have dinner (At ten!?).

After dinner, we were all told to give up our personal belongings (Potential murder weapons like the miniature file of a nail clipper and pins). I persuaded the trainer to let me keep my pins because I only brought it to pin the bed sheet to the mattress (Smart eh?). The other trainees were allowed to go back to their respective dorms because they were already sorted into groups.

We went to collect our new possessions (bedsheets and pillowcase) and were sorted into our companies. I was lucky enough to be in the same company as Sya and Vana (The girl who lost her IC. Remember her?). Pah was in Bravo.

Imagine me, with a trolley bag in one hand, pillow in the other, going down a steep staircase (the hall is on a 'hill') in the middle of the night. Just imagine kalau terjatuh! ahahah. Dah la the lighting on the way to the dorm wasn't very helpful either. A trainer even said that we had to naik a 'sampan' to get to our dorm. When we soon did, there was another flight of stairs. Pffft.

Since it was almost midnight when we reached our dorm and most of the other trainees were already asleep, we couldn't really 'explore' the whole place. So, the only logical thing to do at that time was just sleep and hope that the next 75 days would be tolerable!

As you can see, there are pictures so you can try to imagine about the places and people I talk about :)

Welcome to my dorm (P7)

This is where I sleep

The font view of the hall.

That's the interior of the hall. It's an open hall, the girls' section is in the picture and the guys' section is on the other side of the hall. The counter with the lady in tudung is where we line up (6 times every day) for food. Beside that counter is the logistic counter, where I collected my pillowcase and that's where we usually collect our parcels.

Wow, I really need to get back to my 'blogging' mode. Why have I been MIA for the past week? To make things short, let's just say the place I went to had no wireless and I wasn't in the mood to fight for the computer with four other adolescents.

If you really want to know how I've been spending the last month of tuhzehroozihroonayen, I've been making a lot of friends actually. At first, it was those people from Orange County, but after Little Miss Trouble died in a car accident, things went crazy so I ditched them for my amigos in West Beverly. Clearly, that didn't work out as well after the Winter Dance, which led me to those in the Upper East Side. Got bored of them, so now my latest best friend is a blood splatter analyst by day, a murderer by night. I've gotta say that my network is pretty interesting. One of them is an architect who wears a wife-beater, a druggie, the Queen of the MET steps, AND someone who would kill anyone who disturbs me.

Now, if only they were real.

Hello, I'm a thief, and I'm here to steal your heart

I think I may be a little few months (or years?) a bit too late, but I have just found the joy of torrent files, thanks to Azizah! You know what they (whoever they are) say, "Once you start, you can't stop!", so in my case, it's episode after episode! Oh why didn't I ask you earlier eh Viv? Dah la my break is about to be over soon. Haihh.

Have you seen a pelican? No, the ones you've seen in movies or books don't count. I'm talking about an actual one. Well, if you haven't, I'll take a picture of one. A few have been 'hanging around' the area where I live in! Weird eh? Considering that we're living in Malaysia, it's not a very common sight where you drive and see a huge pink bird on the streetlights!
you must be a broom, cause you just swept me off my feet

Do you recall dreams? I do, well at least I try to. Why? Simply, because it's fun. So after murdering someone and changing school uniforms with a guy to cover the fact that I did (Which was useless because I was held at gun-point when friends of the dead guy found out what I did?), a friend threatening to bomb the whole world because it was the apocalypse, and finally you're having lunch with your friends and suddenly you're celebrating your best friend's sister's birthday and you totally forgot her name, where does that leave you?

I know that 95% of dreams are not remembered (thanks Wikipedia), but recalling it is such a nice way to start the day, no?
I hope your day is as radiant as your smile

If any of you are wondering how my results are, let's just say that I can do the course of my choice and I'm going to university baby! Pulled an all-nighter with Da & Raphael (discussed about various back-up plans just in case our marks weren't what we were expecting), and managed to watch 'House Bunny' to keep me awake. Why that movie? Well, just in case I did badly for SAM, at least I know there's someone more bimbotic and stupid than me out there. And the fact that she's a purely fictional character doesn't bother me at all!

Two hours before the official time the results were supposed to be released, Arisha said that we could check it already. Skyped with Naj just to calm my nerves down, fingers were trembling, and when I typed in my details and changed (from our birth date to 4 random digits) my PIN number ('password') dozens of times, I STILL couldn't check my results! I went from excited to nervous to downright annoyed. In the end, asked Arisha if I could crash her place to check my results, which I did.

From celebrating our one-year anniversary prom night, to watching friends blow bubbles of shisha, to stopping the car in front of a haunted house, to staying up all night, today has been one of the most surprising days I'll always remember and laugh about alone.

How do you explain a bag of groceries and a bouquet of lilies at your front door (Not that I have a back door, but that's not the point)? Fresh lilies that used to be someone's favourite flower, a lemon, bread, onions and fruits? Did someone intentionally leave it there? Was it left at the wrong door? Adam suggested calling a bomoh while Afiq wanted to install cctv cameras. The thing is, whoever left those things at the door, somehow knew that we were out of onions and bread. When I pointed this out, Afiq said, "So let's put a picture of a PS3 outside our door and see if they send us that!"

After receiving three major examination results in front of all your friends, teachers and parents, hearing people screaming and crying, seeing people jumping happily and hugging, suddenly for college you've gotta check your results online at 6.30 am !? Talk about nerve-wrecking.I can imagine the whole scenario. You're all alone, hoping that your wireless doesn't suddenly go haywire, and all the separates you and your future is an 'Enter' button. Then again, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. All I'll have to do is play some applaud or boo noises in the background and hopefully it wouldn't be so different from my past experiences.

Why the new blog? I just needed a 'new beginning', to start completely fresh, et cetra et cetra. In other words, SAJA JE. The truth is, I haven't been blogging for a while (Which is the understatement of the day) and I miss it. All the lengthy posts have been ditched for minimized statuses with limited characters and 'liking' posts and pictures. Screw you social networks for restricting our ability to write! Not that I'm against these networks, but sometimes being able to type endlessly isn't such a bad thing.

Now isn't that such a creative name?
